MLSA Home

cropped-mlsa_2color_logo1.jpg  For over 35 years, the Mountain Lakes Sailing Association (MLSA) has taught children to sail in a fun and safe environment. We offer a Learn to Sail Sunfish program on Island Beach for residents of Mountain Lakes and Boonton Township.  The camp runs Monday through Thursday in two sessions:  1:00-3:00pm and 3:30-5:30pm under the direction of Dr Bob Fehon.

All children need to be at least eight years old, have passed the Borough’s beach test and possess a valid beach pass.  Campers without a boat can rent one for a small additional fee.

After they’ve learned to sail, MLSA can open doors at other summer sailing programs on Spruce Run Reservoir and Raritan Bay.  The Mountain Lakes High School has a fledgling sailing team that sails two-person FJ’s on Raritan Bay in a fall and spring season.  Lastly, former summer “campers” also go on to be hired as Counselors in the camp, gaining valuable work experience.

Sailing is a life-long sport and we hope you will embrace this unique opportunity that has been a vital part of a Mountain Lakes summer for generations!
